Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.), expressed hope on CNN Wednesday that President Trump and the new Democratic majority in the House could negotiate.
“I think the president has proven that he’s interested in negotiating on a number of issues, he has talked a lot about prescription drugs recently and infrastructure,” Lamb said, referring to a phone call Trump made to Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Wednesday night.
“He’s clearly interested and there’s no Democratic or Republican way to build a bridge or a road.”{mosads}
Lamb also reaffirmed to CNN that he will not support Pelosi for Speaker of the House.
Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have both expressed optimism about potential avenues for bipartisan cooperation following the midterm elections.
Lamb beat Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) in Pennsylvania’s newly drawn 17th District. He previously won a surprise victory in a special election the state’s old 18th District.
