President Trump has signed legislation to name a post office after fallen U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, whose parents Trump attacked during the presidential campaign.
The bill, which names a Charlottesville, Va. post office after Khan, was introduced by GOP Rep. Tom Garrett (Va.) and passed by Congress earlier this month.
Trump signed the bill on Friday, according to CNN.
Khan graduated from the University of Virginia, and was the school’s only alumnus to be killed in action in the Iraq war. He died in 2004 at the age of 27. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
{mosads}His father, Khizr Khan, gained national attention after speaking at the 2016 Democratic National Convention against Trump, railing against the then-candidate’s comments on Muslims immigrating to the U.S.
Trump fired back at Khizr Khan, questioning whether his wife did not speak at the convention because of her religion and sparking a feud that lasted days.
Khizr Khan has since become a prominent critic of Trump, accusing him of “disrespect” toward service members and tearing into his immigration rhetoric and policy.
He has also become involved with Democratic campaign and fundraising efforts.
