Trump joins Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus on Florida golf course
President Trump on Saturday golfed with famed golfers Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods during a visit to Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla.
Trump’s weekend trip to Florida marked his first since the end of the 35-day partial government shutdown.
The president canceled plans to visit his Mar-a-Lago resort during the holidays, instead opting to stay in Washington as he and lawmakers sparred over his demand for billions of dollars in border wall funding.{mosads}
Trump’s weekend trip to Florida marks the first in two months, The Associated Press noted.
The president previously has faced scrutiny for his time spent away from the White House.
“I love golf, but if I were in the White House, I don’t think I’d ever see Turnberry again,” Trump said in February 2016 during a campaign stop.
“I don’t think I’d ever see Doral again — I own Doral in Miami — I don’t think I’d ever see many of the places that I have. I don’t ever think I’d see anything — I just want to stay in the White House and work my ass off, make great deals, right?” he added.
The president has known Woods for years and the two have golfed together in the past.
