Trump pressured White House officials to grant Ivanka security clearance: report

President Trump pressured his former chief of staff John Kelly and former White House counsel Donald McGahn to grant his daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump a security clearance over their recommendations, according to a new report.

CNN reported Tuesday citing three people familiar with the matter that the president’s decision to intervene in his daughter’s security clearance process “rankled” White House officials.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told CNN, “We don’t comment on security clearances.”{mosads}

“We cannot respond to every anonymous source,” she added to the network when asked for comment.

The report comes days after The New York Times reported that Trump intervened to secure a top-secret security clearance for his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband.
