Kellyanne Conway: ‘I think my gender helps me with the president’

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway says that she believes her gender has never impeded President Trump’s ability to listen to her for advice, and says that the president takes her as “seriously” as other advisers.

Conway, formerly Trump’s campaign manager, told CNN in an interview last month that was published Wednesday that her gender “helps” her with Trump while stressing that he treats male and female employees “the same.”

{mosads}”I think my gender helps me with the President in that he has never been afraid, and in fact, always been willing to treat men and women in his employment the same,” she told CNN. “I don’t feel like he listens to me any less or any differently, or any less seriously.”

Conway added that her ability to give straightforward advice to the president was why he trusted her to lead his campaign.

“He hears and listens to any number of people. Why does he hear me? Because I always tell him the truth,” she said.

In the interview, Conway also addressed the ongoing feud between her husband, attorney George Conway, and the president that often spills over onto her husband’s Twitter feed.

George Conway, she said, was originally thrilled to see Trump claim victory over Hillary Clinton on election night in 2016.

“George was so excited, literally crying with joy in his MAGA hat — black not red — with his MAGA hat on election night. So, in that way, he’s changed his opinion on matters with the President, the presidency. I haven’t and Donald Trump hasn’t,” she told CNN.

Her husband and Trump made headlines again this week after Trump called him a “loser” on Monday before doubling down in a second tweet.

“George Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife’s success & angry that I, with her help, didn’t give him the job he so desperately wanted. I barely know him but just take a look, a stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!” the president wrote early Wednesday morning.

“You seem determined to prove my point. Good for you! #NarcissisticPersonalityDisorder,” George Conway responded.
