George Conway puts ‘windmill cancer survivor’ in Twitter bio

George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, recently added “windmill cancer survivor” to his Twitter bio in an apparent attempt to mock President Trump’s claim that the noise from wind turbines causes cancer.

Conway, a frequent critic of Trump, previously described himself as just a “lawyer” on his Twitter account. It is unclear when he added the new phrase to his bio. But the change appears to have happened within the last week, as a capture of his Twitter page on April 4 from the nonprofit Internet Archive Wayback Machine shows only the word “lawyer.”

{mosads}Trump sparked scrutiny last week after suggesting that the noise emitted by wind power causes cancer.

“If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer,” Trump said while delivering remarks at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual spring dinner.

There is no evidence to back Trump’s claim that noise from wind turbines causes cancer.

Both GOP senators from Iowa dismissed Trump’s statement, with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) saying the remark was “idiotic.”

“[Trump’s] comments on wind energy — not only as a president but when he was a candidate — were, first of all, idiotic, and it didn’t show much respect for Chuck Grassley as the grandfather of the wind energy tax credit,” Grassley told reporters last week.

Conway has repeatedly slammed Trump throughout his presidency and has recently voiced alarm over what he calls the president’s deteriorating mental state.

“Have we ever seen this degree of brazen, pathological mendacity in American public life?” Conway asked in a tweet in March before adding in a separate tweet that “it’s beyond politics. It’s nuts. It’s a disorder.”

“Whether or not impeachment is in order, a serious inquiry needs to be made about this man’s condition of mind,” he said.
