Trump promises to be ‘very happy’ if he gets six more years in office
President Trump promised supporters at a campaign rally on Saturday night that he would “be very happy” if he was able to serve six more years in the White House.
“I promise at the end of six years, I’ll be very happy,” Trump said, according to CNN. “But you’re going to be left with the strongest country you’ve ever had.”
{mosads}Trump also mocked those he said have cast doubt about whether he would leave after two terms.
“They don’t believe I’m leaving in six years,” Trump said, while also mocking others saying things like “he wants to extend” and “he wants to have the presidency for life.”
Trump also took time to take aim at the news media in attendance at the rally, which was held at the same time as the 2019 White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner.
“And remember this: If I make any misstatement, if I’m off by just a little tiny bit, those people back there will be – headlines! So I have to be very careful. Fake news,” Trump said.
“They’re fake! They are fake. They are fakers!” he continued as members of the crowd began to break out in “CNN sucks!” chants.
“I’ll tell you, you know what sucks? Their ratings suck,” he said in response to the crowd.
