Trump defends tariffs: ‘Mexico has taken advantage of the United States for decades’
President Trump is defending his newly announced tariffs on Mexico, saying that the U.S.’s southern neighbor has taken advantage of the country for decades.
The president on Thursday announced that he would be implementing a 5 percent tariff on Mexican imports as an effort to try to get Mexico City to crack down on illegal immigration.
{mosads}On Friday, he both slammed Democrats over the “Crisis at the Border” and said that Mexico “makes a FORTUNE” off of America.
“Mexico has taken advantage of the United States for decades,” he tweeted. “Because of the Dems, our Immigration Laws are BAD. Mexico makes a FORTUNE from the U.S., have for decades, they can easily fix this problem. Time for them to finally do what must be done!”
Hard to believe that with the Crisis on the Border, the Dems won’t do the quick and easy fix. Would solve the problem but they want Open Borders, which equals crime!

Trump tweeted Thursday that, stating June 10, the U.S. will place a 5 percent tariff on all Mexican imports “until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP.”
The tariff could pose a threat to a pending trade deal with Canada and Mexico, known as the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which is meant to be the Trump administration’s answer to the North American Free Trade Agreement.
