Trump on Hurricane Dorian: ‘I’m not sure that I’ve ever even heard of a Category 5’

President Trump said that he is unsure that he has “ever even heard of the Category 5” hurricane while discussing Hurricane Dorian at a press briefing at the Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

{mosads}”We don’t even know what’s coming at us. All we know is it’s possibly the biggest,” Trump said of storm. “I’m not sure that I’ve ever even heard of a Category 5. I knew it existed.”

“And I’ve seen some Category 4s. You don’t even see them that much, but a Category 5 is something that I don’t know that I’ve ever even heard the term other than I know it’s there,” he continued.

According to CNN, Trump made the remarks shortly before Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas on Sunday.

The hurricane is reportedly the fourth Category 5 storm to threaten parts of the United States since Trump became president. The others three were Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Michael.

Trump made similar remarks shortly after Hurricane Irma hit southern parts of the country in 2017. At the time, Trump told reporters, “I never even knew a Category 5 existed.”

The White House approved an emergency declaration for the U.S. Virgin Islands earlier this week before Hurricane Dorian made landfall. Trump has also ordered federal assistance to support relief efforts to the area.
