Appeals court to reconsider ruling on Trump hotel lawsuit

A federal appeals court will reconsider a ruling that threw out a lawsuit alleging President Trump illegally benefited from the presidency through the Trump International Hotel, according to an order filed Tuesday.

The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals said it will hold a hearing in front of all 15 judges on Dec. 12, according to the order.

{mosads}Maryland and the District of Columbia allege Trump violated the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause by collecting money from foreign and domestic officials who stay at the president’s hotel in Washington, D.C. They filed the lawsuit two years ago.

A panel of Republican-nominated judges dismissed the suit in July after a judge had previously ruled it could continue. The president celebrated the dismissal, saying he “won a big part of the Deep State and Democrat induced Witch Hunt.”
