Trump keeps NYT, WaPo apps on his phone despite canceling subscriptions: report

The New York Times’s and The Washington Post’s respective apps remain on President Trump’s phone despite his recent decision to end the White House’s subscriptions to the two newspapers, according to Axios.

The news outlet reported Sunday afternoon that a source familiar with Trump’s phone confirmed the two apps are still installed on his phone despite his public bashing of their reporting.

{mosads}A request for comment on the president’s reading habits from The Hill was not immediately returned. Trump has indicated on Twitter that he continues to read or at least is aware of stories in the Post, tweeting on Oct. 26, “The Fake Washington Post keeps doing phony stories, with zero sources, that I am concerned with the Impeachment scam. I am not because I did nothing wrong.”

Trump is a fierce critic of both news outlets and in September referred to two Washington Post White House reporters as “nasty lightweight reporters” who “shouldn’t even be allowed on the grounds of the White House.”

The White House ended its subscriptions to the two outlets last month, with Trump telling Fox News’s Sean Hannity at the time, “We don’t even want it in the White House anymore. We’re going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post.”
