Pelosi says she has not spoken to Biden since he dropped out

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told CNN on Monday that she has not spoken to President Biden since he left the presidential race last month, signaling a potential falling out between the two Democratic veterans.

Pelosi told CNN’s Dana Bash that while she hasn’t spoken to the president since he ended his campaign, she hoped to.

“We’re all busy,” she said.

When asked if her relationship with Biden is intact, she said, “You’d have to ask him, but I hope so.”

Pelosi was one of the more influential voices who privately urged Biden to end his election campaign, The Hill reported, though she has denied it. She told CNN she did not push others to take that position, and never said it herself publicly.

“I have hundreds of allies in the Congress of the United States. No, I had nothing to do with that. If you ask them, it’s almost insulting to them, because they’re formidable figures in the Congress of the United States. They make their own judgment and their own statement.”

Despite her attempts to remove Biden from the ticket, Pelosi remained complimentary of the president.

“Look, I have loved Joe Biden, respected him for over 40 years,” she said. “I think he has made one of the biggest contributions to our country in the shortest period of time of any president you can name.”

Shortly after Biden ended his campaign, CNN reported the president was “seething” with anger, much of it directed at Pelosi.
