President Trump lashed out at election analyst Larry Sabato on Sunday, claiming that he “never came close” to understanding the demographics of voters that elected Trump in 2016.
In a tweet, Trump wrote that Sabato “got it all wrong last time,” and “never came close to understanding the Trump Voter.”
“Actually it’s simple, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN and then, KEEP AMERICA GREAT!” he added.
Trump’s tweet apparently came in response to two tweets sent by Sabato, the director of University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, who tweeted an article from The Onion mocking the chaos surrounding the results of the Iowa caucuses, which are still under review by the Iowa Democratic Party.
“Iowa Democratic Party Finally Releases Full Caucus Results To Rubble-Strewn Remains Of Des Moines In Year 2186,” read the article’s headline, which Sabato tweeted.
“And Trump will still be President,” Sabato remarked in the second tweet, which Trump later quote-tweeted.
Trump frequently points to the results of the 2016 election when attacking the credibility of the national news media or political analysts, and earlier this year was spotted with a map of the 2016 election results on his desk during an unrelated event on prayer in schools.
