Biden to travel to Berlin

President Biden is adding a foreign trip to his schedule during the final stretch of the presidential campaign, a source familiar with the plans tells The Hill.

Biden is expected to travel to Germany, where he will stop in Berlin, the source said, in what is expected to be a state visit before the president travels to Angola.

Reuters reported late week that Biden would travel to the African nation.

The source told The Hill the five-day trip is expected to happen Oct. 10-15, but it is unclear how much time Biden will spend in each country.

This will be Biden’s first trip to Berlin during his presidency. It’s also his maiden visit to Angola. He wanted to visit last year, but the trip was derailed because of the conflict in Gaza.

Biden hosted Angolan President João Lourenço at the White House last year and discussed traveling to the country, vowing to build a stronger partnership with democracies in Africa. Earlier this year, he also discussed traveling to Africa next year if he won the presidential election.

It is Biden’s first foreign trip since he withdrew from the presidential race in July and since Vice President Harris became the Democratic nominee.

Biden is expected to campaign for Harris during the final weeks of the presidential race.
