Longtime US men’s soccer player rips Trump: ‘We have a president who is completely empty’

U.S. men’s national soccer team player Michael Bradley ripped President Trump Thursday, saying that the president doesn’t have “a moral bone in his body.”

Bradley said in a conference call with media that if the U.S. wanted to legitimately address systemic racism and social inequality, “then Trump can’t be president, it’s as simple as that.”

“We have a president who is completely empty. There isn’t a moral bone in his body,” Bradley said, the Canadian Press reported.

Trump has faced rising criticism over his handling of nationwide protests and civil unrest sparked by the police killing of George Floyd last week in Minneapolis.

Trump mobilized the National Guard in Washington, D.C., and encouraged the country’s governors to do so as well, telling them earlier in the week that they needed to “dominate” protesters.

Tensions between protesters and law enforcement have often boiled over the past week and a half, with videos of police brutality going viral.

The midfielder added: “There’s no leadership. There’s no leadership from the president, there’s no leadership from the Republican senators who have sat back and been totally complicit in everything he’s done for the last 3 1/2 years.”

Bradley, who’s played on two U.S. World Cup teams and has served as the team’s captain, also urged Americans to vote in November.

“I just hope that people are able to go to the polls in November and think about more than just what is good for them, more than what is good for their own status, their own business, their own tax return,” he said.

“I hope that people can go to the polls and understand that in so many ways, the future of our country and the future of our democracy is at stake.”
