George Conway hits Trump on 9/11 anniversary: ‘The greatest threat to the safety and security of Americans’
Conservative lawyer and outspoken President Trump critic George Conway slammed the commander in chief Friday, tweeting on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that Trump is “the greatest threat to the safety and security of Americans.”
On this 9/11, the greatest threat to the safety and security of Americans is the President of the United States.

The criticism comes as Trump participated in memorial ceremonies and other events Friday honoring the lives lost 19 years ago in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania when planes crashed after being hijacked by terrorists.
Conway, the husband of former Trump White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, has publicly opposed his wife’s support of the president.
George Conway’s Friday tweet comes after he announced he would be withdrawing from anti-Trump GOP group The Lincoln Project last month.
Conway was among the founding members of the group of current and former Republicans who endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden while also launching ads attacking the president and his allies.

Conway said at the time that he was stepping away from The Lincoln Project to “devote more time to family matters,” but added that he continued to “support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately.”
The announcement on his departure came at roughly the same time news broke about Kellyanne Conway’s departure from the White House at the end of August.
Trump has continuously pushed back at The Lincoln Project over the group’s critical messaging, personally attacking George Conway in a series of tweets posted in May.
“I don’t know what Kellyanne did to her deranged loser of a husband, Moonface, but it must have been really bad,” Trump said in one of the tweets.
