Jill Biden to join president at G-7 Summit
First lady Jill Biden will join President Biden at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit in the United Kingdom next month, the White House announced on Friday.
The trip to Cornwall will be the first overseas trip taken by the first couple. The G-7 summit is set to take place from June 11 to 13.
“This trip will highlight the President’s commitment to restoring our alliances, showing that democracies can deliver, and working in close cooperation with our allies and multilateral partners,” the White House said in a statement.
The White House is reportedly also making plans for Biden to meet with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II before he heads to a NATO meeting on June 14.
White House Press secretary Jen Psaki was questioned by reporters on Thursday about the meeting and said she doesn’t have anything to announce about a meeting.
Psaki added that she will let Buckingham Palace announce any invitation for the president to meet the Queen.
