Americans divided on Biden’s health, mental fitness: poll

Registered voters are split in their opinions of President Biden’s health and mental fitness, according to a new poll.

The Politico/Morning Consult survey found that 40 percent of respondents either somewhat or strongly agreed that Biden is in good health, while 50 percent disagreed.

Participants were more closely divided on Biden’s mental fitness. Forty-six percent of respondents agree that Biden “is mentally fit,” compared to 48 percent who disagreed.

Pollsters also found that just 34 percent of voters agree that Biden, who at 78 is the oldest person to serve as the president of the U.S., is energetic, and 37 percent said that he is a clear communicator.

Meanwhile, 44 percent of registered voters who took part in the survey said they approved of Biden’s performance in office. Just more than half — 53 percent — disapproved, and 3 percent said they either did not know or had no opinion.

By comparison, Biden’s job approval rating fell to a record low of 41 percent in a Washington Post/ABC News survey earlier this week.

The new Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted Nov. 13-15 and had a margin of error of 2 percentage points. It included 1,998 registered voters.
