Pence to headline fundraiser in New Hampshire: report

Former Vice President Mike Pence is reportedly traveling to New Hampshire next month to headline a fundraising event, fueling more speculation about a potential bid for the White House in 2024.

Fox News reported on Sunday that Pence is scheduled to keynote a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Senate Republicans on Dec. 8, marking his second visit to the Granite State this year. The event will take place in Manchester.

He is also reportedly set to headline a Heritage Action event focused on tax increases during his trip to New Hampshire, the state that has historically held the first presidential primary contest in the U.S.

Pence joined the Heritage Foundation, a leading conservative think tank, as a distinguished visiting fellow after he departed the Trump administration earlier this year.

The former vice president also made his second visit to Iowa, the first-in-the-country caucus state, earlier this month and previously made trips to South Carolina and Nevada, both of which vote early in GOP primaries.

While it remains unknown if Pence will look to secure the top spot on the Republican ticket in 2024, his recent trips to early caucus and primary states are fueling speculation.

Axios reported in September that the former vice president was aiming to raise $18 million for his new nonprofit group Advancing American Freedom ahead of a possible 2024 presidential run.

Former President Trump has been publicly flirting with a potential 2024 presidential bid, though he has not yet announced a firm decision on his plans.

Former White House director of communications Alyssa Farah last week said she believes Pence would run against Trump if the two men both decide to launch campaigns, adding that the former vice president is “uniquely positioned” and could “put up a formidable fight.” She said she believes he is “going to do it.”

She did note, however, that some Republicans would likely not support his run, pointing to rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6 who chanted, “Hang Mike Pence.”
