Clinton looks to refill coffers after Pa.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), her back up against the wall and her campaign in debt, has scheduled a Washington fundraiser for early May.

According to an e-mail from Clinton’s Washington Finance Committee, on May 7, the former first lady, her mother and her daughter will attend an event, being called “Generations of Women: Honoring our Everyday Heroines with Sen. Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Dorothy Rodham,” at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

{mosads}The costs of attending range from $5,000 to sponsor a “Platinum Table” and get a photograph with Clinton to $250 for “supporter” status.

“You can recognize a special woman in your life by sponsoring a table in honor of them,” the e-mail to donors reads. “All honorees and sponsors will be recognized and included in our program.”

The e-mail does note that only primary funds will be accepted from individuals, and “those who have maxed out are asked to raise $250 to attend.”

The finance team is scheduled to meet in Washington Thursday for “a Pennsylvania debriefing and an update on the remaining upcoming primary states” from Clinton advisers Terry McAuliffe, Geoff Garin and Bob Barnett.

Clinton’s rival and Democratic front-runner Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) holds a commanding cash advantage, while it was revealed over the weekend that Clinton was about $1 million in debt at the end of March.

If Clinton is able to win Tuesday’s Pennsylvania primary, she will need to raise a lot of money quickly to be able to compete with Obama in the next round of primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.
