Clinton announces second ‘3 a.m. call’ ad

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) campaign announced Wednesday afternoon that it will start running a second "3 a.m. phone call" ad in Pennsylvania, this one dealing with the economy.

Mark Penn, Clinton's senior strategist, said on a conference call with reporters that "this one covers what would happen if that call at 3 a.m. were an economic crisis."

{mosads}The first ad featured a sleeping children and a phone ringing at the White House and asked which candidate would voters want answering the call to deal with a foreign policy crisis at 3 a.m.

The ad was widely credited with helping Clinton make big gains in Texas, where Clinton beat rival Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in the Texas primary although Obama ended up winning more delegates there.

Penn and Howard Wolfson, a Clinton spokesman, said the ad was the first to highlight a Democrat's differences with Sen. John McCain on the economy.
