Landrieu launches first ad
Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D) first television ad has hit the airwaves, her campaign announced Wednesday.
The ad, titled “Fighter,” focuses on Landrieu’s effort to save a Louisiana factory that builds armored security vehicles (ASVs).
“When production was threatened, Landrieu reached across party lines to get millions so this Louisiana factory could keep making these armored SVs,” the ad’s narrator says.
The ad emphasized Landrieu’s bipartisanship, effectiveness and seniority, also mentioning that she “took on FEMA.”
Landrieu is running against Louisiana state Treasurer John Kennedy (R). Kennedy switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 2007. He also ran for the Senate in 2004 as a Democrat, losing to David Vitter (R).
Recent polling shows Landrieu maintaining a lead, but the state is the top GOP target, and the race is expected to be a battleground.
