Sali still hasn’t filed 2Q report
Rep. Bill Sali’s (R) campaign has yet to file its latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) report more than a week after the deadline, as financial woes continue to trouble the freshman incumbent’s bid for reelection.
The deadline for filing second-quarter reports was July 15, and Sali’s campaign has blamed the delay on technical problems between it and the FEC. As of press time Wednesday, there was still no report on the FEC’s website.
{mosads}Although Sali has yet to file, his campaign says it raised $155,000 for the quarter and had $250,000 in cash on hand and $126,000 in debt at the end of the period.

Sali’s Democratic opponent, Walt Minnick, raised about $360,000 during the quarter and had $440,000 in the bank.
The debt has been a thorn in the side of Sali’s campaign for quite some time. In May, it was revealed that Sali’s campaign had to pay one of its consultants on a cash-only basis because at the time, the campaign already owed the firm $76,000.
Additionally, campaign spokesman Wayne Hoffman estimated that Sali has only retired $10,000 of his outstanding campaign debt.
