White leads Heinrich in own poll

Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White (R) has released a poll showing him with a six-point lead over his opponent, former Albuquerque City Councilman Martin Heinrich (D), in the 1st congressional district.

The poll, conducted July 22-23, showed White leading Heinrich 47-41, outside the poll’s 4.4 percent margin of error.

{mosads}Polling firm Public Opinion Strategies said in a statement that Heinrich “just cannot match White’s popular appeal and connection with voters.”

A poll earlier this month by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research showed Heinrich with a 47-44 lead over White, within that poll’s 4.4 percent margin of error.

“Our numbers are different, but we feel good that, every time a poll is released, we’re increasing and he’s decreasing,” said Heinrich campaign manager Jon Blair.
