Obama camp slams McCain’s economic plan
Surrogates for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) blasted Sen. John McCain’s economic proposals Monday, saying the Arizona Republican’s proposals would disproportionately benefit large corporations and wealthy Americans.
Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.) called McCain’s plan a “laundry list for corporate America.”
“It does nothing to encourage investment into small business,” she said. “He does little to provide for small businesses who are continually left out [of global trade negotiations].”
Velázquez, who chairs the House Small Business Committee, also challenged McCain to make a commitment to help restore funding to the Small Business Association.
Jason Furman, the director of economic policy for the Obama campaign, said McCain’s policies would benefit companies like ExxonMobil, which has reaped record profits in the wake of the soaring price of oil.
“John McCain’s entire economic agenda is centered around big businesses at the expense of small businesses and American families,” Furman said.
