Kissell’s first ad goes after Hayes

Democratic congressional candidate Larry Kissell released his first television ad of the 2008 cycle Monday, and he’s already on the attack.

In the ad, the repeat candidate accuses five-term incumbent Republican Robin Hayes of a decade of failures, blaming him for increases of $3 per gallon of gasoline, 60,000 lost jobs and the continued U.S. military presence in Iraq.

Kissell argues that he is the new voice needed by constituents, stating: “It’s time to take our country back.”

Hayes spokesman Steve Quain said that while there had indeed been 60,000 layoffs during Hayes’s time in office, 90,000 jobs have been created in that time.

“Congressman Hayes has been working toward common-sense solutions to lower fuel prices that will incorporate conservation, alternative energy sources and greater use of oil and natural gas reserves,” Quain said.
