Johnson racks up key support
Sen. Tim Johnson (D) is already heavily favored to win reelection, but the incumbent’s bid for a third term was bolstered Tuesday by a key gesture of support from across party lines.
{mosads}Johnson’s latest ad features an appearance from Sioux Falls Mayor Dave Munson, a Republican who has been in office since 2002. In the ad, Munson praises Johnson’s Senate career, calling the senator “a great partner for me to work with.”
“I can’t even list all the projects Tim Johnson has done for Sioux Falls — there’s just been that many,” he adds.
Munson also expresses confidence that Johnson — who was out of the Senate for almost nine months after suffering a brain hemorrhage in December 2006 — is healthy enough to serve a third term.
Johnson was reelected in 2002 by only 500 votes, but polls have consistently shown him leading comfortably over this year’s challenger, state Rep. Joel Dykstra (R).
