GOPer’s press aide resigns after using fake name
An aide to congressional candidate Cynthia Lummis has resigned after calling into an opponent’s conference call and asking a question under an assumed name, according to local reports.
{mosads}Rachael Seidenschnur initially denied using a fake name on Democrat Gary Trauner’s call, but a recording of the call indicates that she identified herself as “Sierra,” according to The Associated Press.
Lummis’s campaign emphasized that Seidenschnur acted alone and that the campaign didn’t condone her actions.
Seidenschnur was new to the campaign, which is in a tough race for retiring Rep. Barbara Cubin’s (R) at-large seat. She formerly worked for Cubin.
The news comes days after former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore’s (R) press aide, Ana Gamonal, was suspended for using an alias to try to get on an opponent’s e-mail press release list. Gilmore is running against former Gov. Mark Warner (D) for an open Senate seat.
