Everett chipping in for GOP’s future

Retiring Rep. Terry Everett (R) is leaving the House, but he’s doing his part to make sure there are enough Republicans left to carry the party banner next Congress.

His third quarter financial report shows Everett contributed more than $50,000 to fellow House members, candidates, and a Republican National Committee (RNC) fund aimed at winning races in Everett’s and retiring Rep. Bud Cramer’s (D) Alabama districts.

Everett gave $1,000 each to Reps. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.), Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), Robin Hayes (R-N.C.), Ric Keller (R-Fla.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.) Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio), Thelma Drake (R-Va.), Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) and Tim Walberg (R-Mich.).

He also gave to a number of challengers and cut a $29,500 check to the RNC’s Love Parker Alabama Trust, which supports Everett’s potential successor, state Rep. Jay Love (R), and the GOP candidate for Cramer’s seat, insurance executive Wayne Parker.

The races for Everett’s and Cramer’s seats are among the top in the country, despite the conservative leanings of their districts.
