GOPers rebuke Bachmann’s comments
Minnesota Republicans are distancing themselves from comments made by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) that suggested Barack Obama is anti-American.
{mosads}The comments have caused a firestorm and helped Democrats rally their base for the election just two weeks away.
Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) faces a race in which he will likely rely on Obama supporters splitting their tickets. He told WCCO-TV: “I would not label his views as anti-American. Clearly, folks can look at past relationships, but in the end I have a different perspective than that. … In the end the voters will decide.”
Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) told the Minneapolis Star Tribune: “I don’t think it’s fair or appropriate to suggest that Barack Obama is anti-American. If you do a lot of interviews, eventually you are going to say something that you wish you had said differently. It’s just the nature of talking all day.”
