Brown not ready to concede to McClintock
California Democratic congressional candidate Charlie Brown said
he will decide within a day or two whether to press on in his drawn-out contest
with Republican Tom McClintock, who was expected to declare victory Monday.
{mosads}McClintock leads by more than 1,500 votes — about one-half of 1
percent — in the 4th district race.
Brown pointed to the 15,000 undervotes, which are ballots that did
not include a vote in the congressional race, and also suggested he could
challenge disqualified provisional and absentee ballots.
The vote totals will not be certified until Tuesday’s deadline,
but it appears Brown will have a steep hill to climb.
