Obama raises a jaw-dropping $55 million in February

Sen. Barack Obama’s (Ill.) campaign announced Thursday that it raised a stunning $55 million in February, again besting Democratic rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.).

{mosads} The Obama campaign said it collected $54 million in primary funds in a month that saw the Illinois senator string together 11 victories in a row after Super Tuesday on Feb. 5.

Clinton, who finally stopped that streak with three wins Tuesday night, raised $35 million in February, a record for her campaign.

The New York senator's campaign announced Thursday that Clinton has raised $6 million online since the beginning of March, with $4 million coming in since Tuesday night's victories.

Obama’s previous best was the $36 million that he raised in January.
