Conway: Trump ‘absolutely respects the intelligence community’
Donald Trump aide Kellyanne Conway on Sunday said the president-elect “absolutely respects” the intelligence community.
{mosads}”He’s made very clear he’s going to put his own people in there as well,” she added on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
Conway noted that Trump has said the notion that Russia intervened in the election to help him win the presidency is “laughable and ridiculous.”
“It’s untrue and it’s also unfair.”
A report published Friday said that a secret CIA assessment concluded Russia intervened in the U.S. presidential election to help Trump win the White House.
Trump during an interview that aired Sunday called the report “ridiculous.”
Conway attempted to clarify those remarks, saying there is no evidence the Russians intervened to help Trump become president.
“The president-elect’s point is that the conclusion some are making here that the interference went to affecting the election results to try to defeat Hillary Clinton, that’s what he’s calling ‘ridiculous,’ ” she said.
She called it “unfortunate and unfair,” saying the country deserves a peaceful transition. She urged people to take their cues from President Obama, who has congratulated the president-elect and made clear he’s there to support a peaceful transition.
“I just believe unfounded allegations like this really undercut that,” she said.
