Trump hiring Omarosa for White House role: report

Former “The Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault is expected to join President-elect Donald Trump’s White House staff, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.

In her role, Manigault, who appeared on the first season of the NBC reality show, will focus on public engagement, the AP reported, citing two sources familiar with the decision.

Manigault was a vocal supporter of Trump during his White House bid, attending the Republican National Convention in July and later joining his campaign as director of African-American outreach.

Last month, Trump’s transition team announced that Manigault would serve on the transition team’s executive committee.

In an interview earlier this year, Manigault said she had received threats and caught a lot of “flak” for working with the president-elect.

“I will never forget the people who turned their backs on me when all I was trying to do was help the black community, she said in a past interview.

Manigault told The Hill in October that she would be open to working in a Trump administration, citing her previous experience working in the office of Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton administration.

“I worked in the White House already. I think every American should have the opportunity to serve their country,” she said.

“I have a lot of responsibilities that I put off for the last 17 months — one of which, of course, is my church, and the other is being a reserve chaplain, which I take very seriously,” she said.

“But if asked to serve my country in any way, that’s what I’m about and that’s what I would do.”
