Bill Clinton didn’t want Hillary to apologize for server: book

Former President Bill Clinton originally did not want Hillary Clinton to apologize for her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of State, a new book reveals.

The Hill’s Amie Parnes and Sidewire’s Jonathan Allen report in “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign” that the former Democratic presidential nominee’s top advisers thought she should apologize, regardless of whether or not she had done something wrong.

But Bill Clinton thought differently.

{mosads}Instead, he thought his wife should explain what she was thinking and why she didn’t believe she had done anything wrong with her email setup.

During an August 2015 campaign appearance in Iowa, Clinton addressed the issue of her email server.

“It clearly wasn’t the best choice. I should’ve used two emails — one personal, one for work,” she said.

“I take responsibility for that decision, and I want to be as transparent as possible, which is why I turned over 55,000 pages, why I’ve turned over my server, why I’ve agreed to — in fact, been asking to and have finally gotten a date to — testify before a congressional committee in October.”

During a later interview, Clinton conceded that she should have “used two accounts.”

“That was a mistake,” she said. “I’m sorry about that. I take responsibility.”

During the campaign, Clinton’s rivals often went after her for her use of a private email server.
