Some Calif. incumbents lagging in fundraising: report
Some Republican incumbents in California congressional races are reportedly lagging in their fundraising efforts.
Although some representatives have a lot of cash on hand, others have not shown strong fundraising numbers, according to the Los Angeles Times, which looked at dozens of early campaign finance reports.
For example, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), who faces at least 10 challengers, had $406,616 in the bank at the end of the quarter, according to the Times.
Some of those challengers have reported strong fundraising numbers, including businessman Harley Rouda, who raised $177,974.
Rep. Steve Knight (R-Calif.), meanwhile, had $433,301 in the bank at the end of June, according to the publication. Five people are challenging him, including Bryan Caforio, who had $175,635 on hand, and Katie Hill, who had $173,299 on hand, the Times reported.
Still, some GOP incumbents have a lot of cash on hand, including Rep. Mimi Walters (R-Calif.) and Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), according to the newspaper.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) reportedly brought in a big fundraising haul, but is also facing well-funded opponents.
