Moulton raises $600K for veteran candidates
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) recently raised $600,000 for veteran candidates running in House elections, the congressman’s campaign confirmed Tuesday.
The Friday fundraiser included 12 candidates and drew 300 attendees, allowing each candidate to come away with approximately $45,000, according to Moulton’s team.
The fundraiser for Democratic congressional candidates took place in Boston after four of the candidates participated in a forum at Harvard University, including Roger Dean Huffstetler, who is running in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District; Amy McGrath, who is running in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District; Dan Feehan, who is running in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District; and Mikie Sherrill, who is running in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.
{mosads}Moulton, a Marine Corps veteran, has pushed for more veterans to run for office. He endorsed all 12 of the candidates that benefited from Friday’s fundraiser, which was first reported by Roll Call.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has listed 79 districts as targets for the 2018 midterms as the party seeks to flip the lower chamber and gain from the historic pattern of the president’s party losing seats.
