Cantwell easily wins reelection in Washington Senate race

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) easily secured a fourth term in the Senate on Tuesday night.

Cantwell defeated GOP candidate Susan Hutchison a former broadcast journalist who lead the state GOP party for five years, who she outspent by more than $7 million.

Though public polling was scarce in the race, Cantwell was expected to easily cruise to reelection against Hutchison, a conservative who backed President Trump in 2016, in the deep blue state.

A poll released in October showed Cantwell leading by 14 percentage points, and handicappers rated the race as solidly Democratic.
