Conservative Scott Perry wins reelection in Pennsylvania’s 10th District
GOP Rep. Scott Perry has won reelection to Pennsylvania’s 10th District, hanging on to his seat in a key battleground state despite the race tightening during the closing stretch of the campaign.
Perry, a member of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus, beat back a competitive challenge from Democratic congressional candidate George Scott, a pastor and Army veteran.
{mosads}One the eve of the midterms, the Cook Political Report shifted the race from “lean Republican” to a “toss-up.”
The district heavily favored President Trump in 2016, but grew less conservative after court-ordered redistricting, putting the seat in reach for Democrats and prompting former Vice President Joe Biden to come stump for Scott on the campaign trail.
But Perry had picked up a late and highly-coveted endorsement from Trump last Friday, likely giving him a boost.
Perry, a helicopter pilot in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard who fought in the Iraq War, came to Congress in 2013, after serving in the state House of Representatives.
