Trump leads Biden in head-to-head 2024 rematch: Poll

Former President Trump is narrowly beating President Biden in a 2024 hypothetical match-up, according to a new poll.

The Yahoo News/YouGov poll found Trump has a slight edge over the sitting president in a hypothetical rematch, leading Biden 44 percent to 42 percent. However, the poll also found 9 percent of respondents were unsure who they would vote for, and another 5 percent said they were not planning to vote.

When asked if Biden’s age or Trump’s criminal charges were a bigger problem when it came to their fitness for the presidency, respondents were largely split.

About 42 percent said Trump’s criminal charges were the bigger problem, while 41 percent said Biden’s age was. Only 8 percent said neither was a problem, and 9 percent said they were not sure.

Biden’s age remains a concern among voters, including those within his party, as he approaches his 81st birthday next week. Seventy-three percent of Democrats said it was a problem when it came to his fitness for the presidency.

When asked about Trump’s criminal charges, only 40 percent of Republicans said they would be a problem for the former president.

A majority of respondents, 60 percent, said Biden was not fit to serve another term. Respondents were more split on whether Trump is fit enough to serve another term in the White House, with 49 percent saying he was not and 38 percent saying he was.

The poll was conducted among 1,584 adults Nov. 9-13 and has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.

Other polls have concluded with similar results. Quinnipiac University’s latest poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support for his White House bid — a slight lead over Biden’s 46 percent support.

Stack Data Strategy also released a model this week that projected Trump would beat Biden if the election were held today, with Biden winning the popular vote but losing the electoral college.
