Ken Buck predicts another Trump impeachment if he’s convicted, then reelected
Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) predicts that if former President Trump is convicted and then reelected, he would be impeached again.
Buck joined CNN’s Kasie Hunt to discuss the former president’s possible conviction and what it means for the Republican Party if he becomes the nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
“Well, here’s … the real issue from my perspective, and that is that impeachment requires a high crime or misdemeanor,” Buck said. “If Donald Trump is a convicted felon the day he shows up to Congress, you can imagine the impeachment, legitimate impeachment, inquiries and motions that are going to be made.”

“And the impeachment, the crimes aren’t just crimes that have nothing to do with politics or his presidency, they are integrally involved with how he operated the White House and what he did after he lost an election,” Buck said. “I think that is really a cause for concern.”
Buck said that if Trump wins reelection and is the sitting president, he thinks some Republicans in the Senate will vote to convict him if he is convicted of felonies. It take a two-thirds majority in the Senate to reach a conviction on an impeached president.
Trump has been impeached twice, but he was not convicted by the Senate in either of his trials.
The Colorado congressman said he hopes voters are paying attention and take action because he doesn’t think the Republican Party can do “as much as the voters can.”
Buck has yet to endorse another candidate running against Trump to be the Republican nominee, but said he “thought the world of” former Vice President Mike Pence and loved Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who both have dropped out of the race.
“So really, in my view, we’ve got Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley,” Buck said. “And we’ll see if Donald Trump ever shows up a debate.”
