Biden mocks Trump over Haley, Pelosi mix-up

President Biden mocked former President Trump on Sunday for appearing to mix up Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) during a campaign rally this weekend.

“I don’t agree with Nikki Haley on everything, but we agree on this much: She is not Nancy Pelosi,” Biden wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, attaching a campaign ad that knocked Trump for the mix-up and highlighted concerns about his mental fitness.

The ad included remarks from Haley –— the former South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador under Trump — reacting to Trump’s Friday comments, in which he appeared to mix up the two high-profile female politicians.

In the ad, Haley’s comments from a Saturday rally were interspersed with moments from Trump’s rally on Friday and from earlier rallies.

“Last night, Trump is at a rally. And he’s going on and on, mentioning me multiple times as to why I didn’t handle January 6 better. I wasn’t in office then. They’re saying he got confused,” Haley said in the ad.

“He got confused. He got confused and said he was running against Obama. He never ran against Obama. Don’t put our country at risk like this,” she said.

Trump, on Friday, repeated a baseless argument that he frequently makes, seeking to blame security failures at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, on then-Speaker Pelosi. He also falsely claimed the evidence gathered by the Jan. 6 select committee was deleted — despite the fact that it’s publicly available online.

On Friday, Trump repeated those arguments, but he blamed Haley instead of Pelosi.

Trump currently faces four criminal indictments, including two related to his efforts to stay in power after losing the 2020 presidential election. He is the current front-runner in the GOP presidential race in 2024.
