Longtime Trump aide jumps into House race in Georgia

A longtime aide to former President Trump has jumped into a House race in Georgia after Trump encouraged him to run.

Brian Jack filed his candidacy for the seat representing Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District on Thursday, the same day Trump said on Truth Social that he would support him if he were to seek the office. The seat is held by outgoing Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.), who announced in December that he would not run for reelection after serving in the House since 2017. 

Trump said in his Truth Social post that Jack, 36, is “a man of Loyalty, Honesty, and Integrity” and represents a “New Generation of Leadership.” 

“Brian has been thinking about running to succeed Drew, as he has always sought to accomplish incredible things for Georgia and our Country,” Trump said. “I encourage Brian, a Fayette County native, to go for it, pursue his dream, and run for Congress.” 

Jack worked for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and served as White House director of political affairs during his administration. He has been serving as an adviser to Trump’s 2024 campaign.

A person familiar with the decision told Politico that Trump campaign political adviser Alex Latcham will take over Jack’s role serving as a liaison between Trump and Capitol Hill. But Jack will still be an adviser and help develop Trump’s campaign in Georgia. 

Georgia’s 3rd District is strongly Republican leaning, so Jack would very likely be elected to the seat if he wins the Republican nomination.
