Judge overseeing Trump’s Georgia probe wins reelection

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, the judge overseeing former President Trump’s Georgia election interference case, has won his race for reelection, according to Decision Desk HQ.

McAfee fended off a challenge from civil rights attorney Robert Patillo II, retaining his seat on the Superior Court. He’s overseeing a case launched by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) into whether Trump and his allies sought to overturn the Georgia 2020 election results.

McAfee became a household name, particularly after issuing a decision to allow Willis to remain on the Trump case while ordering fellow prosecutor Nathan Wade to be removed amid revelations that the two had a relationship.

Members of both parties expected McAfee to survive the challenge to his reelection bid, and the judge enjoyed endorsements from Republicans and Democrats including Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and former Gov. Roy Barnes (D).
