Trump rips Biden’s ‘sick smile’ after conviction
Former President Trump criticized President Biden’s “sick smile” after being asked about Trump’s conviction at the end of a Friday press conference.
“Do you see that sick smile?” Trump headlined a Wednesday email to supporters.
The email included a gif of Biden smiling while walking out of the press conference, during which he announced an Israeli-led proposal to end the war in Gaza.
Biden was beginning to walk away from reporters in the room when he was asked about his reaction to Trump directly blaming the hush money verdict on Biden. The president then paused with his back to reporters, turned and flashed a grin in response.
He then slowly turned back and waved a hand to dismiss further questions before walking out of the room. The video went viral online as people across the country reacted to Trump’s historic verdict.
The former president, who wasted no time in fundraising off his conviction, said in his email Wednesday that Biden wasn’t smiling because he convicted Trump, “HE’S SMILING BECAUSE HE HAS YOU IN HIS SIGHTS!”
“Biden smirks at the destruction of our nation, but because of your action right now, he’ll be CRYING in November,” Trump said in the email. “Please patriotically stand with me today.”
Trump’s campaign isn’t alone in criticizing Biden’s reaction. Comedian Jon Stewart questioned why everything has “to be so f‑‑‑ing weird” when talking about his smile on “The Daily Show.”
The former president’s email comes after his son Eric Trump highlighted his father’s campaign fundraising numbers in the immediate aftermath of the conviction. He said the campaign announced it raised $52.8 million in 24 hours after the verdict.
