Crockett says she hopes ‘the geniuses that pushed’ Biden out ‘have a plan’
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) threw her support behind Vice President Harris as President Biden’s replacement while criticizing those who urged the president to step aside.
Crockett praised Biden in a post on the social media platform X, saying that Democrats, not Biden, were “the problem.” Biden announced Sunday that he would be withdrawing from the presidential race after being faced with growing calls to resign for weeks following a disastrous debate performance.
“Well I hope the geniuses that pushed the most consequential President of our lifetime out, have a plan. WHO in the hell couldn’t sell the MF Accomplishments & win over a 34 time convicted Felon who isn’t even allowed to operate businesses in the state of NY (and therefore should automatically be disallowed from say running the country) & his ENTIRE team IS project 2025?! Joe wasn’t the problem… dems were,” Crockett wrote on X.
“I know one thing, I will only work for @KamalaHarris! If it’s anyone OTHER than her, enjoy campaign season… I hope all of my disenchanted colleagues are able to find some walking shoes and get to work because I WILL NOT!” she continued.
Crockett has been a staunch supporter of Biden in the weeks after his poor debate showing with former President Trump. She criticized members of her own party following the debate, saying it’s “annoying” that “Democrats get into a frenzy.”
She also doubled down on her support of the president earlier this month and urged people to be united behind the Biden-Harris ticket.
Shortly after his announcement, Biden said he would be endorsing Harris as his replacement. Some Democrats have already followed Biden’s lead to unite behind Harris in the hours since the announcement.
The vice president said later Sunday she was honored to receive Biden’s support and that she intends to “earn and win” the Democratic presidential nomination.
