Donald Trump Jr. hits ‘border czar’ Harris in new Fox News op-ed
Donald Trump Jr. criticized Vice President Harris over her role in the Biden administration’s immigration policy, calling her a “border czar” in a new op-ed.
Trump Jr. argued in the article, published by Fox News, that Democrats have “put America last” by opening up the borders to migrants, dismantling election systems and “embracing non-citizen voting.”
“Biden’s border czar VP – turned presidential candidate Harris – has failed Americans with her devastating performance at the border,” he wrote.
Trump argued that Harris has not spoken to the Border Patrol chief and she only visited the U.S.-Mexico border “years ago.”
As Harris gears up to take on the former president in the general election this fall, Republicans have sought to criticize her for the role she played in Biden’s administration and the influx of migrants who arrived in the country during their time in office.
A strong message in Trump’s op-ed was that undocumented migrants will vote in the U.S. election. The White House claims that it’s rare for noncitizens to break the law by voting, but the GOP has clung to the idea that the influx of migrants arriving at the southern border correlates with election security.
“If the Biden and Harris administration insists it’s only a small problem, I’m inclined to believe it’s a big one. But regardless, shouldn’t we be doing everything to fix any problem that could jeopardize our elections?” Trump wrote.
He argued that “Democrats have a clear plan” of allowing noncitizens to vote. Trump urged voters to cast their ballot for his father because he will do “everything possible to stop non-citizen voting.”
“He will secure the border and secure our elections on day one. He will put America First every day. This is the ultimate fight for our country, and we need you in it,” he said. “We have to swamp the vote, and we have to protect it, and none of us can sit on the sidelines.”
The Hill has reached out to Harris for comment.
