Harris, Walz and spouses to tour Pennsylvania by bus ahead of convention

Vice President Harris, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and their spouses will kick off a bus tour in Pennsylvania ahead of the Democratic National Convention next week.

Harris, Walz, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Minnesota’s first lady Gwen Walz will start the tour in Pittsburgh on Sunday, and they are planning to make several stops across western Pennsylvania, the campaign announced in a Wednesday press release.

The tour marks “the first time all four principals campaign together and will continue the campaign’s focus of meeting voters where they are,” according to the campaign.

Democrats are focused on winning the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania, which Biden won in 2020 and former President Trump won in 2016. Harris and Walz’s first rally together was in Philadelphia last week.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index shows Harris narrowly ahead of Trump in the Keystone State with 47.6 percent support compared to the former president’s 46.8 percent.

The Democrats’ convention will take place in Chicago and is set to start Monday. Walz is expected to speak Wednesday, and Harris will give her remarks and official acceptance speech Thursday.

Harris and Walz are reportedly also planning a rally in Milwaukee, in swing state Wisconsin, on Tuesday while Democrats are in neighboring Chicago.
