Georgia Republican urges more GOP support for Harris: ‘Reclaim this country’s future’

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) pushed for more Republicans to support Vice President Harris, arguing in a Tuesday interview that it was perfectly acceptable for those in the GOP to back her even though she’s a Democrat.

“I think it’s important to reinforce the fact to Republicans around the country that just because you vote for Kamala Harris in 2024, doesn’t mean you’re Democrat,” Duncan told CNN anchor Jim Acosta on “Laura Coates Live.”

“It just means you’re a patriot,” Duncan continued. “You’re doing your duty as an American to step up to the plate and reclaim this country’s future.”

Duncan is among a few notable Republicans who have expressed their support for the vice president in her bid for the presidency. He has been a harsh critic of former President Trump in recent years.

The Georgia Republican said he also believes “the 10 percent in the middle that are gonna determine this election are all types of makes and models.”

“There’s some lifelong Republicans like me that are extremely conservative, but just have seen Donald Trump act in ways that should never be rewarded with another job called ‘president,’ and some folks that are just moderates and everything in between,” Duncan added.

Harris has been gaining in polls as her campaign continues to build momentum.

She is ahead of Trump by 4 points in the important battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to recent polling from The New York Times/Siena College.
