Ramaswamy: Trump ‘receptive’ to advice to refocus on Harris policy stances

Former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy said the Trump campaign should reset and refocus its attacks on Vice President Harris’s policies.

In an interview with Politico, Ramaswamy said he saw a “missed opportunity,” as former President Trump and his campaign has focused largely on personal attacks, plus the size of her event crowds, rather than Harris’s record.

“I see a missed opportunity. But I’m keen to make sure we get on the right course, which is to go after her policy record,” Ramaswamy said. While she hasn’t spelled out specific policies yet, he notes “she’s been a U.S. senator, she’s been a vice president, and she’s been a 2020 presidential candidate, as well.”

Looking at her stances provides “a very fertile basis for drawing policy contrasts that I don’t think we have done a good enough job yet of drawing,” he added.

In the last week, along with attacking the vice president personally, Trump has falsely claimed that the Harris campaign faked crowd sizes, which the campaign refuted.

The entrepreneur, who ran in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, said he thinks Trump and Republicans can still win if the focus shifts to discussing the vice president’s record and her decision to choose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Ramaswamy shared that he had talked to the former president about changing course, adding that Trump has been receptive.

He said if Republicans are able to better lay out their policy vision, “I think we can win this thing not only by a small margin but … something that resembles a landslide.”
